Now you might think, especially if you're a small local business, that getting to the top of Google is a simple matter of designing a website and optimising it for "Product/Service + Location" is all that's required. And you could be forgiven for thinking that way too as for many years it was true.
Now though, more than ever, other elements come in to play. Here's an example...
I'm a Google Local Guide. Now that might not mean much to you but if I walk into your business it might. Just a few weeks ago I wandered into a cafe and had what I believe to be an orgasmic experience embodied within a Walnut and Honey cheescake. It was delicious. Seriously !
The cafe in question had no website, no sicial to speak of and couldn't be found easily so I snapped a pic, posted it up to social and created a listing for them on Google Maps. All while I enjoyed my treat.
I didn't charge them, didn't want to, and a few days later hey presto the listing was live and they can be found EASILY !
What's the moral of the story...? Simple: Grab yourself a local web designer and feed him up on chocolate and sweets until he's diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or... A more sensible solution, pay someone with local and web design knowledge to get you where you deserve to be, to the top of Google.
What's great about this is that the person doesn't even have to be on your doorstep. I work with clients in 3 different countries (and have worked with clients in more than 7 over the years) so the designer doesn't even need to be on your doorstep.
